At the end of my senior year at RISD, I was selected to be one of the two RISD finalists for the 2011 Supima Design Competition.
Supima sponsored five cotton fabrics - stretch corduroy, denim, jersey, shirt, and twill - and asked contestants to use these fabrics to create an eveningwear capsule collection out of these fabrics.
I was attracted to how well Supima cotton fabrics took color from dyes and inks, as well as how beautifully it draped despite being cotton. I looked at geodes and their beautiful patterns for inspiration, using photographs of rock samples to create engineered and allover prints for my collection. |
